Have you made the switch to Lightning Experience yet? Salesforce's sleek new UI doesn't just look fantastic—it also flaunts a slew of exciting capabilities. And with Summer '16, Salesforce's 50th release, the list of reasons to implement Lightning Experience keeps on growing. Here are five notable upgrades from Summer '16 that you won't want to miss out on:
1. Associate a Contact with Multiple Accounts
Data quality improvement is the focus of this enhancement. Many-to-many Account-Contact relationships are much easier now that Contacts can be associated to multiple accounts. Rather than creating duplicate records or using Contact Roles, users can now help manage the relationship between people and business with this new feature.
Here's an example from the Salesforce Summer '16 Release Notes:
John Smith is a vice president at Acme Corporations, and Acme is the account on his contact record (1). But John is also involved with the nonprofit organization Greendot Media. By adding Greendot Media as a related account on John’s contact record (2), reps can track this other relationship. John is considered a direct contact to Acme because Acme is the account on his contact record (3). And he’s considered an indirect contact to Greendot Media and any other accounts that he becomes related to (4). John also appears as a related contact on the Greendot Media account record and any other accounts that he’s indirectly related to (5).
2. Account Autofill and Logos (Lightning Experience Only)
Oh, Salesforce, where has autofill been all our lives? With Account Autofill, Salesforce offers suggestions as you type the Account Name (US-based companies only). Additional fields populate when you choose a suggested Account. Company logos will populate as well—watch for old logos to be refreshed with this update (also available in Salesforce1). Here's a glimpse from the Release Notes:
3. List View Enhancements
In Lightning Experience, you can filter List Views in a flash without editing! Lightning Experience offers new features in List Views that aren’t available in Classic. We all know that List Views are the key for Sales Teams to access data fast, so this is a huge win.
So what do you get with the upgrade? The ability to search and filter from the main page, Opportunity Board (essentially a visual pipeline—see the image below from the Release Notes) and charts! That’s right—you can now make a chart of the data in a List View!
4. Sending Email through Gmail or Office 365 and Email Displays (Lightning Experience only)
You can now send your Salesforce emails through Gmail or Office 365, which can help improve your delivery and open rates. Want even more to celebrate? Emails are now available in your Sent Items folder!
The new Email Detail Page displays emails the way they traditionally look. Check out the related lists section for Sender and Recipients, Attachments, and related Objects. Here's what the Release Notes have to say:
The detail page displays the email (1), with any custom fields you add. The page also includes related lists for sender and recipients (2), attachments (3), and the related opportunity, campaign, case, account, or person account (4).
5. Create a Calendar from Anything (Lightning Experience Only)
If you have a date field—you can calendar it! Users can customize, edit and delete a calendar by applying a list view. Imagine seeing those Opportunity close dates displayed beautifully over the June 2016 calendar... Again, here's what the Summer '16 Release Notes say:
Select fields that determine what the calendar displays (1, 2, 3). If you want, filter the calendar items by selecting a list view (4).
