In front of a ballroom full of regional leaders, community members, and students, our CEO Audrey Dunning was named the 2016 Athena Award winner on Monday, September 26.

The Greater Pittsburgh Athena Award "recognizes exceptional women who demonstrate excellence in their profession, contribute to their community and help other women succeed through mentorship." Especially as America continues to suffer from a striking leadership gender gap and a digital divide that impedes women in technology, women in C-suite tech roles are rare. Audrey's unique leadership abilities, wisdom, community-mindedness and eagerness to see other women and men achieve are integral in Summa's success—and her receipt of the Athena Award recognizes that impact.

Audrey's acceptance speech focused on the opportunities her position gives her to make a difference in her company and community. Speaking to aspiring women leaders in the audience, she encouraged women to believe in themselves and their contributions.

"Quiet that voice inside of you that says, 'I'm not good enough. I don't think I have enough experience. If I ask, someone will say no,'" Audrey said. "Be confident in what you bring to the table, and be willing to take more chances, because you're better than you think."
