I had the pleasure of attending quite an amazing event, Dreamforce 2014. Marc Benioff sure knows how to ‘WOW’ the crowd – I heard some fans even compare it to Woodstock. The new feature I am most excited about is the Process Builder, a new workflow tool that will give Admins a power boost!
The graphical interface of the Process Builder gives a clear visual layout with point and click functionality to easily create an entire process flow. Some cool features of the Process Builder include the ability to create multiple actions in a single process, cross-object workflows, dynamically update any related record (not just the record or its parent), create records without writing code, change record owners and launch a flow immediately or use a scheduled action.
You will also be able to write workflows without criteria– this feature received a huge round of applause at the Dreamforce session I attended.
Gone are the days where an Apex Plug-in is needed to Post to Chatter or Submit a Record for Approval as the new Process Builder includes elements to handle these actions.
The Process Builder is only available via private beta in Winter '15, but will be well worth the wait when this feature does become generally available. This feature definitely gets a ‘WOW’ from me!
