Pittsburgh TechFest (or simply PghTechFest) is a yearly, one-day event in the first week of June where software development professionals from Southwestern Pennsylvania and surrounding areas get together to talk and learn about perfecting the craft of software development. Since its inception in 2011, PghTechFest has been a part of the Pittsburgh software development community allowing local talent to share their expertise.
Like the previous years, PghTechFest was hosted at La Roche College in the North Hills of Pittsburgh. This year's conference was held on June 7th and had its largest crowd to date with over 300 conference attendees. This year's conference also had its largest contribution from Summa.
Summa has always been a part of PghTechFest, but this year we saw Summa's involvement in all aspects of the conference. Summa was, for a second year in a row, a platinum sponsor - the highest level sponsor for the event. As for speakers, Summa was well represented with nine people submitting speaker topics with six being accepted. PghTechFest is purely a volunteer run event, and several people were heavily involved making sure the conference ran smoothly from beginning to end. Summa also held organizing roles for the conference, such as Volunteer Coordinator and Social Media Coordinator. Lastly, Summa had a large showing with over twenty employees attending the event.
Again, PghTechFest is about having local talent share expertise. The speakers for Summa presented on a variety of topics. This year's Summa led topics included the following sessions:
Continuous Deployments with Octopus Deploy
Android Tips and Tricks
Validated Learning & Product Development
Intro to Xamarin Studio
Windows Store Apps for JavaScript Developers
Scaling Agile for the Enterprise
Ultimately. Summa would like to thank all that attended and were involved with Pittsburgh TechFest this year. As the conference grows and continues to improve in the years to come, Summa will continue to help and be a part of its success.
