Broadcast Media - UK Engagement Lead

Date you joined CGI:

I joined CGI in December 2017.

What do you like about being part of the industry?

I'm new to broadcast media but I've been impressed by the passion that it inspires.  This is evident in the clients that I've met, our product teams and my new team.  Everyone shares the ethos that "the show must go on" and we need to do whatever it takes to ensure that happens.

What are the values that drive you?

I'm driven by a passion to work with our clients to support them in achieving their goals.

What is something people in your industry have to deal with that you want to fix?

The broadcast media industry has always been driven to innovate and compete for audience attention.  More than ever this is being delivered against a backdrop of increasing cost pressures.  I want to work in partnership with our clients to harness technology and the wider capabilities of CGI to allow them to overcome that challenge.

What three words would your colleagues use to describe you?

Hopefully, they'd describe me as open, organised and professional.

In everything I do I try to remain open to new ideas.  It is important to recognise that we don't have all the answers and that we'll move forward to improve our delivery more quickly if we encourage input from the wider team.

I'm not a big fan of surprises - something that I think I share with our clients.  Organisation and planning is the key to avoiding them through consistent delivery.

Finally, I hope that everyone would think of me as professional.  Professional in my approach to building relationships, solving problems and delivering for both CGI and our clients.

Your top 3 favorite Podcasts/Books?

It is difficult to narrow it down to just three. To make it easier I'll answer these three questions:
  • The book that I can read again and again?
    Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson
  • The book I'm reading now?
Windswept and Interesting by Billy Connolly
  • Favourite podcast?
No such thing as a fish

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

Life outside of work is pretty busy.

I enjoy long dog walks with my wife and two children.

I've always been a keen cyclist and love riding my bike with friends and clubmates.

Last year I decided to take up golf.  I thought that it would be relaxing but it is an infuriating sport with brief moments of joy when I manage to hit a small ball with a stick.  I love it!
